The Symposium for Local Atmospheric Research (SCALAR) is a small two-day conference that provides a space for graduate and undergraduate atmospheric science students to present their work in a low-stakes yet professional conference environment. Furthermore, SCALAR is an opportunity for professional development, collaboration, and networking between UND departments (such as Atmospheric Science, Aviation, Physics, Engineering, etc), the Grand Forks National Weather Service Office, and local private entities. The conference includes invited keynote speakers, faculty talks, graduate student talks, undergraduate student talks, lightning talks, and a career panel.
